Albemarle County Department of Social Services Participates in Statewide Adoption Campaign

Local Adoption Event to be Held July 31; Registration Required

Albemarle County’s Department of Social Services is participating in a statewide campaign to provide opportunities for area families to learn more about growing their family through adoption in the foster care system. “Virginia Adopts: Campaign for 1,000” is an initiative to match 1,000 children currently in foster care with adoptive families.

The Virginia Department of Social Services will host a local event designed to provide educational information for parents and families interested in adoption on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Albemarle County Office Building, 401 McIntire Road. Guest speaker, Pat O’Brien, founder of “You Gotta Believe!” located in New York, will share motivation and insight into how important permanent families are for our older youth in foster care.
