County Police to Participate in Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Albemarle County Police Department will participate in the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run this Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Officers with the ACPD will join officers from all across Virginia as they carry the Flame of Hope on part of a 1,900 mile journey to the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games Opening Ceremony in Richmond.  The 8-day Torch Run involves more than 2,000 law enforcement officers and personnel representing more than 200 law enforcement agencies across Virginia.  The journey began in Bristol, Virginia on June 1 and will end with the kickoff of the Summer Games on June 7-8 in Richmond.

On Thursday, our Region 8 (Piedmont region) team will leave the police department around 6:30 pm.  ACPD will carry the Flame of Hope from the police department to the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville. A number of Special Olympic athletes will be joining us for the run.
