Chris Dumler Resigns from Board of Supervisors

Board of Supervisors member Chris Dumler, representing the Scottsville Election District, today announced his resignation from the Board of Supervisors effective immediately.  The tender of resignation was made by a letter that was read by Supervisor Duane Snow at the beginning of the Board’s regularly scheduled June 5 meeting.

State law provides that the remaining five members of the Board of Supervisors have 45 days to appoint a qualified voter of the election district to fill the vacancy for the Scottsville District to serve until a special election can be held.  If a majority of the Board members are unable to agree upon an interim appointment within 45 days, the judges of the Albemarle Circuit Court may make an appointment.

The Board of Supervisors have established a selection process for the interim Board member.  Any registered voter residing in the Scottsville District interested in being appointed to serve as the interim Board member is requested to file an application with the Clerk of the Board no later than June 20, 2013.  An application form is available on line on the Board of Supervisors website at  or may be obtained from the Board Clerk’s office at the County Office Building on McIntire Road.   The schedule and operations of the Board of Supervisors will continue as usual while the vacancy is being filled.
