April 6 Road Closures Associated with Charlottesville Marathon

The Albemarle County Police Department would like to notify the public about a few road closures associated with the Charlottesville Marathon on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Old Ivy Road and Old Garth Road will be completely closed for the safety of the runners.  Garth Road to Barracks Farm Road will also be closed.  Traffic will not be allowed on these roadways.  However, citizens living along the affected roads will have access to and from their homes.  The roads will be closed from 6 am until around 9:15 am.

We encourage everyone to plan in advance and expect these closures and delays.  Traffic will be rerouted to Route 250 West for drivers traveling to Crozet and/or Ivy.
Ten officers with the ACPD will be working the event to help direct traffic.  This is a contractual overtime assignment and our patrol shifts and responses to calls for service will not be impacted.

The Charlottesville Marathon is a huge running event with thousands of people expected to participate.  We want to ensure that the highways remain safe surrounding the event and the runners.  Please plan in advance.
