Albemarle County Proposed Comprehensive Plan Updates Now Available

Open House Scheduled for Thursday, March 21

Albemarle County has completed proposed updates to its Comprehensive Plan, which is required every five years according to the Code of Virginia. The updates will go before the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors for final approval and adoption.

The Comprehensive Plan is Albemarle County's most important document regarding growth, development and change. It establishes government policy to help guide public and private activities as they relate to land use and resource utilization, and is the basis for land development regulations and decisions. County staff and the Planning Commission have worked to make sections of the Comprehensive Plan more "current" with updated information and standardize land use maps and now that information is available for the public to review.

An open house will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the 2nd floor lobby, County Office Building, 401 McIntire Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. County staff will be available to explain different features of the plan, answer questions, and take comments which will be forwarded to the Planning Commission prior to the public hearing, which will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lane Auditorium, County Office Building, 401 McIntire Road.
