EOC and Non-Emergency Phone Line Set to Close at Noon Today

Today at 12 noon the Albemarle County, City of Charlottesville and University of Virginia Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will officially close. Our region was spared the brunt of  Sandy's effects, while approximately 2,486 residents are still without power. The area power companies are continuing to work on restoring power to their customers.  Our Public Safety Staff will continue to monitoring the area for downed trees and any potential hazards.

In addition, the non-emergency information line will be deactivated.  All non-emergency calls should be directed to the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) on Ivy Road at (434) 977-9041 where our dispatchers will respond to general inquiries.

There are currently 2,486 homes without power in our area:  
                        Dominion Virginia Power – 1,239
                        Central Virginia Electric Cooperative – 913
                        Rappahannock Electric Cooperative – 334
                        Appalachian Power - 0
