Albemarle's Citizen Fire Rescue Academy Kicks Off October 22

If you have ever been interested in knowing more about how Albemarle County Fire Rescue works, this is the perfect opportunity for you. The Citizens Fire Rescue Academy is designed to allow Albemarle County residents the opportunity to gain a realistic view into the operations of our Fire Rescue Department. Participants in the Academy will learn how Fire Rescue operates, tour the Hollymead station, see the equipment, and talk with firefighters and paramedics about the many aspects of their service (EMS and fire response). Why a Citizens Fire Rescue Academy?
This program is designed for people who have a genuine desire to learn about the daily life of firefighters, who want to increase fire and life safety awareness, and who wish to increase the awareness of the services provided by the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue.

Who Can Attend?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, who lives in Albemarle County, and has never been convicted of any crime. Selection of students will be made by application.

How Much Does the Course Cost?
There is no charge to participants. All materials are provided.

When Do Classes Meet?
Classes meet one evening per week for 6 weeks, beginning October 22, 2012. Classes meet on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
