Friends of Shenandoah Day is Saturday, July 28

Shenandoah National Park Trust will host its Second Annual Friends of Shenandoah Day on Saturday, July 28th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in the national park. This is a special day of hikes, park ranger programs, entertainment and cook-out for members of Shenandoah National Park Trust, the official philanthropic partner of our national park. Check-in begins at 9:15 am at the Skyland Conference Hall (mile post 41.7 on Skyline Drive).
The day’s activities include:

Stony Man Hike: From an historic copper mine to a home for some of Virginia’s rarest and most vulnerable animals and plants, Stony Man has many stories to tell. 1.6 miles. |

All Who Wander Are Not Lost: Learn map and compass orienteering in this fun workshop. |
| 11AM - 11:30AM |
|
Wild About Bears: Discover new facts about Shenandoah’s largest mammal from a Park Ranger. |

|
Lunch and entertainment by the Shenandoah Valley Cloggers. |
| 1PM - 2PM |
|
All Green is Not Good: Learn about the challenge of invasive, non-native plants in Shenandoah and what our park--and Shenandoah National Park Trust--are doing about it. |
| 2PM - 3PM |
|
Historic Massanutten Lodge: Tour this restored 1911 cottage to learn the history of Skyland, the mountain resort that pre-dated the national park. |
| 2PM - 4PM |
|
Ancient Volcano Hike: The rocks of Shenandoah preserve the story of this special place. 2 miles. |
All activities are appropriate for adults and able-footed children. Activities overlap so that participants may choose their favorites.
