The Charlottesville/Albemarle Community Commemorates Flag Day and the US Armed Forces

The Charlottesville/Albemarle Community Flag Day of Honor commemorates the adoption of the Flag of the United States on June 14, 1777.  In conjunction with the Downtown Business Association of Charlottesville and Celebrate!250, this year’s event is designed to show appreciation for our country, our active Armed Forces, our veterans and their families on Thursday, June 14 at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Downtown Charlottesville.

The program begins at 6:30pm with the posting of colors and Pledge of Allegiance, led by our local Boy Scouts from the Stonewall Jackson Area Council.  The National Anthem and America the Beautiful will be performed by Sheri Iachetta. At 6:45pm, Keynote Speaker, Brigadier General Thomas E. Ayres, will address the community followed by the swearing in of new recruits and recognition of our local veterans and their families.

At 7:00pm, the Charlottesville Municipal Band will conclude the program with what promises to be a memorable performance. There will be cake, dog tags, and flags for all who attend.
