Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District Offers Cost-Share Assistance to Moore’s Creek Watershed Residents

The Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District (TJSWCD) is offering supplemental cost-share assistance to farmers and homeowners within the Moore's Creek Watershed for farm conservation practices and septic system repairs. Through water quality monitoring, it has been determined that Moore’s Creek is impaired with bacteria. Homeowners and farmers in the watershed area qualify for targeted funding to clean up potential sources of bacteria.

Farmers can receive funding for stream fencing, alternative watering systems, grazing systems and vegetation establishment along stream banks. Homeowners can receive funding to repair failing septic systems, installation of new septic systems and pump-out septic tanks. Projects will be supported with up to 50-85% cost-share and will be prioritized based on the extent to which the project would improve water quality in Moore’s Creek. For more information, please contact the TJSWCD at (434) 975-0224 or
