FEMA, VDEM to Hold Town Hall Meeting for Residents Who Experienced Earthquake Damage

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) has announced that Albemarle County is now eligible for Individual Assistance as part of Virginia's federal earthquake disaster declaration. Under the Individual Assistance program, homeowners, renters and business are now eligible for assistance to help them recover from the earthquake.

FEMA and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) will hold a town hall meeting for Albemarle County residents who have experienced earthquake damage on Monday, February 13, 2012. This meeting will be held in the Lane Auditorium of the Albemarle County Office Building from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

There will be informative presentations on the FEMA Registration Process for Individual Assistance, Overview of the Small Business Assistance program for Businesses and Homeowners, Overview of Earthquake Mitigation Efforts and Overview of Historic Preservation. This meeting will offer interested residents the opportunity to actually register for individual assistance or take the materials home with them to register at a later time. The registration deadline is March 5, 2012.
