Albemarle Public Safety Personnel Partner for National Night Out

The Albemarle County Police Department, Albemarle County Fire/Rescue and the Albemarle County Sheriff's Department are partnering with the Target Department Store in observation of National Night Out (NNO). The event will be held this evening, Tuesday, August 2, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Target parking lot, located in the Hollymead Town Center.

The Albemarle County Police Department will be showcasing multiple vehicles and equipment, as well as specialty units. The Albemarle County Sheriff's Department will be fingerprinting children and the Albemarle County Fire/Rescue will have personnel and equipment on display. Several other sponsors will be in attendance as well.

NNO was established in 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. National Night Out (NNO) is a community policing initiative held annually on the first Tuesday in August.  Initially, communities held vigils and this event had grown into block parties, festival and other events that help bring communities and local law enforcement agencies together.

Community members are encouraged to join Albemarle County public safety personnel in this local observation of National Night Out.
