Hillsdale Drive Extension Public Hearing - November 16

The City of Charlottesville announces a public hearing for the Hillsdale Drive Extension Project. The project proposes the extension of Hillsdale Drive from Greenbrier Drive in the County of Albemarle to Hydraulic Road in the City of Charlottesville. Federal funding is being proposed for construction of this project.

Informal Plan Review: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM       Public Hearing: 6:30 PM

The public is invited to review and ask questions of staff and provide comments on the major design features and right of way limits during the Informal Plan Review. Public Comments will be taken during the Formal Hearing beginning at 6:30 PM. An environmental document was prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and will also be available. In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106 and 36 CFR Part 800, information concerning any potential effects of the proposed improvements on properties listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places is available in the environmental document.

Project materials may be viewed at City Hall, Department of Neighborhood Development Services located at 610 East Market Street, Charlottesville; at the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library located at 201 East Market Street, Charlottesville; and the Albemarle County Office Building, Office of Facilities Development located at 401 McIntire Road, Charlottesville.  Maps, drawings, the environmental document, and other information pertaining to the proposed project will be on display at the hearing. Property impacts and relocation assistance policies, and tentative construction schedules will also be available at the public hearing.

Public comment will begin at 6:30 p.m. (limit of 3 minutes per speaker). Persons are asked to sign up in advance of the start of the Hearing. Written or verbal comments can be submitted at the hearing or submitted following the hearing by sending to the Project Manager, City of Charlottesville Neighborhood Development Services (610 East Market Street, PO Box 911, Charlottesville, VA 22902) postmarked no later than November 30, 2010. Written statements may also be submitted by November 30, 2010 via an electronic comment form on the project website (
