EXTENDED DAY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

PART-TIME, 10 MONTHS

The Extended Day Enrichment Program Teacher provides students in the Extended Day Enrichment program with a safe environment and a quality enrichment program.  Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains a safe work environment;
  • Establishes and maintains high standards of behavior;
  • Meets students at designated time and location;
  • Prepares and implements lesson plans;
  • Coordinates activities and special events with EDEP and school staff;
  • Exhibits positive public relations;
  • Upholds EDEP and school rules, policies, and procedures;
  • Prepares and distributes snack as assigned;
  • Attends required and assigned training sessions;
  • Exhibits dependable work habits;
  • Participates in EDEP programs as assigned
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward elementary students; ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff; education or experience equivalent to a baccalaureate degree in a child related field; minimum of one year of programmatic experience working with children in grades K-5.  Pursuant to state law, individuals applying for employment with the Albemarle County Public Schools for any position shall be required to disclose prior convictions of law other than minor traffic violations or juvenile offenses.  Information provided by applicants may be verified by work history, personal reference or criminal record inquiries to determine the applicant's acceptability for employment.  

 

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:  Duties performed typically in school settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned spaces; Frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required; Occasional travel with students on field trips; Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required; Personal hygiene of disabled students in changing catheters, diapers, and clothing is required; Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required; Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required; regular contact with other staff members, parents and medial professionals may be required.

 

SALARY:  $11.62 - $13.95/ hr depending on experience and qualifications

 

HOURS:  Typically 4 hours/day; 1:30pm - 5:30pm, or 2:00pm - 6:00pm
