The Team Leader is responsible for the implementation of an integrated, comprehensive community-wide plan designed to create safe, respectful, and drug-free school environments and to promote social skills and healthy childhood development at multiple secondary and elementary schools under the Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiative. Coordinates school-based "Structure and Support Teams” and all related grant programs and functions. Provides expert advice, consultation, assistance, training, and facilitation to school personnel around assessed training needs using one or more evidence-based programs (e.g. Olweus, Restorative Practices, Life Skills Training). There will be a total of four Structure and Support Team Leaders, each assigned to a high school feeder pattern. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish “Structure and Support Teams” at assigned schools, to include teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, school resource officers, and others;
  • Coordinate all meetings and activities of Structure and Support Teams in assigned schools and monitor progress toward fulfilling stated objectives;
  • Coordinate identification of students requiring services, tracking, and follow-up of student referrals;
  • Oversee communication and create structures to disseminate program information to schools and community;
  • Participate in weekly grant coordination meetings;
  • Develop an efficient system of connecting student need with resources;
  • Receive training in one or more grant Evidence Based Practices and provide training to staff at assigned schools;
  • Provide updates to school administration and project director;
  • Ensure an equitable delivery of services to assigned schools;
  • Provide assistance to the evaluation team for tracking cases and collecting data; 
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure good fiscal management of grant funds;
  • Follow approved procedures for acquiring goods and services;
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with schools and service providers;
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Safe Schools Healthy Students Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Public Safety or related field; Master’s degree a plus;  background in training with a minimum of three years of related work experience; prior experience with federal grants preferred. Experience with Olweus Bullying Prevention, Second Step, Responsive Classrooms, Life Skills, and/or Restorative Practices a plus.  Knowledge of best practices in education, public safety, child development, mental health, and substance abuse; knowledge of adult learning principles; ability to make effective presentations and lead/facilitate classroom training; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees and work effectively with all levels of staff; knowledge of evaluation protocols; skill at managing complex projects with multiple components. Strong listening and verbal communication skills with the ability to design, develop and deliver instructional training. Knowledge of a variety of delivery platforms such as web-based training, seminars and video-conferencing. Strong organizational skills; work ethic and personal integrity; ability to work with a diverse population; ability to manage a complex budget. Excellent problem solving, customer service and interpersonal skills; strong proficiency with PCs; creative ability.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:   Use of computer and office equipment in an office environment.  Frequent contact with professional partners and the public. Local and some regional travel required. Must have valid driver’s license. Occasional evening hours.  

SALARY:  $45,556 - $54,667/annual equivalent based on qualifications and experience
