Twelve people stayed overnight at the Monticello High School shelter last night. The Red Cross took over emergency shelter operations at noon and the shelter has been closed at Monticello High School and moved to the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department to provide easier access to that area of the county which has been hit hardest by power outages, phone outages, etc.  The Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department has no phone service as their lines are down so a ham radio operator will be providing communications between the shelter and the Red Cross building on Rose Hill Drive until phone service is restored.  The 979-INFO remains in operation for those with questions or who need assistance today.
