MISSION STATEMENT

The County of Albemarle Office of Housing (ACOH) shall strive to increase opportunities for all County citizens to secure and maintain decent, safe, sanitary, accessible and affordable housing with special emphasis given to those citizens least able to obtain it.

 

PUBLIC NOTICES

The Albemarle County Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) waiting list is CLOSED for an indefinite amount of time.

    The Albemarle County Office of Housing will begin accepting applications for PROJECT-BASED rental assistance for the following  properties beginning July 7, 2008:  Park's Edge Apartments, Park View Apartments, and Scottsville School Apartments.  Each of these properties has specific occupancy requirements and applications will only be accepted if those requirements are met.  You may apply in person on weekdays between the hours of 8AM and 5PM.  Applications will be mailed upon request or may be accessed at our website by clicking here and selecting the Project Based Housing Pre-Application.  For any further questions regarding the application process, please contact feel free to contact us.

 

What Does the Housing Department Do?

The primary focus of the Albemarle County Housing Department is to assist people with securing rental housing and paying rental subsidy.  The Housing Department also assists people in purchasing homes and can help people set goals to become economically self sufficient.

Currently, there are three Housing Programs: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, The Homebuyer's Club, and The Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.  Our address is 1600 5th St Suite B Charlottesville, VA 22902.  We are located on 5th St less than half a mile from I-64 and the Holiday Inn.  If you are unfamiliar with the Charlottesville Area, please click here for a map and directions to our office.
