Important notice about Albemarle County tax payment deadline change:

The Board of Supervisors extended the tax payment deadline for the first half of the tax year 2017 to Thursday, June 15th, 2017.  Tax bills will be mailed on or around May 15th, and will have a due date of June 15th, 2017.  This deadline extension is ONLY applicable to the first half of tax year 2017 (June). Future tax payments will be due on the normal tax due dates of December 5th and June 5th.  Payment deadlines will be clearly indicated on future tax statements.  Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause you.

What We Do:
The Department of Finance is responsible for the County’s overall financial management including: financial reporting, assessment and collection of all local revenues, cash management, debt management, risk management, and financial systems management functions.  Finance provides services to the public and local government entities, including Albemarle County Joint Entities, and Public Schools.   Services provided include:  payroll; accounts payable; procurement; capital financing; general accounting, quarterly and annual financial reporting; economic vitality monitoring and reporting; and, revenue forecasting for County budgeting purposes.
