The Department of Voter Registration and Elections is responsible for registering qualified citizens to vote and for maintaining accurate records for each voter. In conjuction with the Electoral Board we administer federal, state, and local elections. Our goals are to offer all eligible voters in the county an opportunity to register to vote, to provide the best customer service to our voters, to educate voters on election issues, and to facilitate the administration of fair and impartial elections.  The Department offers:

Voter Services: registration and record management for more than 71,000 Albemarle County voters
Candidate Services: Candidate filings, petitions and certification
Voter Education: High School Registration and Registrar website
Election Administration: selection of polling places, Election Official recruitment and training, and Election Day preparation

Special Election to be Held November 3, 2015, to fill the Samuel Miller School Board vacancy
