 Patrol SUV


 


PATROL SUV
We utilize four wheel drive Ford Explorer XLTs.  They are equipped with whelen LED all blue Liberty light bars, mini light bar in the rear and blue grill lights.  Each also has a push bumper, video camera and Mobile Data Computer system.

 

 

 
 



 


PATROL CAR
We utilize Ford Crown Victorias.  They are equipped with whelen LED all blue Liberty light bars and blue rear deck lights.  Each also has a push bumper, video camera, Mobile Data Computer system, prisoner partition and RADR.


 


TRAFFIC CAR
We utilize a variety of unmarked police package vehicles that will have subdued blue lights in the front and rear interior of the car. 



K-9 SUV
Our K-9 SUV is a 2007 Chevy Tahoe with Police package that includes whelen LED all blue Liberty light bar, mini light bar in the rear, video camera, Mobile Data Computer, push bumper, back up camera, and K-9 Partition with hot dog system

 




 


MOTORCYCLE

Members of our Traffic Unit currently ride BMW Motorcycles.  The motorcycles have become an invaluable resource allowing officers to enforce traffic violations that otherwise may avoid detection.  Highly maneuverable, the motorcycles are indispensable during periods of heavy traffic congestion.  The motorcycles are also used during high profile activities such as dignitary visits and funeral escorts. 



 

TACTICAL TRUCK
The Albemarle County Police Department utilizes a 1998 international panel truck as their tactical vehicle.     This vehicle is unmarked and is not categorized as an emergency vehicle.      The truck's primary function is to store tactical equipment and transport unit members to target locations.  It may be also be used for the following purposes:
 as a tactical command center;  during tactical training exercises;  static displays for community groups and civic organizations;  at the discretion of the Tactical Unit leader or Tactical Unit commander.





 



FORENSIC TRUCK
Our forensic unit utilizes a  2007 Chevrolet Silverado as the Forensic Unit Vehicle.   In addition to carrying the necessary equipment to conduct forensic investigations, this vehicle is also marked and is authorized to perform patrol duties.
 

 




 


URV and ATV

We currently house (1) 2004  Yamaha 660 Rhino Side by Side All Terrain Vehicle and (2) 1993  Honda 300 All Terrain Vehicles as part of our fleet.  The Utility Response Vehicle (URV) and All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) are utilized during special events or emergency incidents. The mobility and versatility of these vehicles aide the Albemarle County Police personnel in gaining access to areas not easily accessible by normal patrol type vehicles. The vehicles' capabilities will aide department personnel in completing their task in a much safer, timely, and effective manner.




 


COMMUNITY RESPONSE VEHICLE

Albemarle County Police utilize a Community Response Vehicle (CRV) for situations, but not limited to, the management of major incidents, community education programs and a variety of special events.  The mobile command center is a 2003 Mohawk 38' Fifth Wheel trailer with 10KW diesel generator, 3000 w light tower and satellite phone and internet.  Within the trailer are three functional areas: communications, conference and work stations.


 



BIKE
A 2005 grant allowed Albemarle County Police to purchase and outfit new Trek mountain bikes.




 



UNDERWATER RECOVERY TRUCK

Used to transport team and individual divers' equipment, and provide for an area with a controlled environment for team members to change in and out of their diving gear, and for diver rehabilitation.



 


BOAT
This 1998 Zodiac used by the ACPD Underwater Recovery Team to transport divers, personnel and equipment on the water.

CRISIS NEGOTIATIONS TRUCK
Albemarle County Police Department utilizes a 1988 Chevrolet Truck that is specially equipped to respond to to the scene of all hostage or barricade situations


 

Prisoner Transport Van


PRISONER TRANSPORT VAN
Albemarle County Police Department utilizes the van to transport prisoners, transport non-prisoners when appropriate, and under the direction of a supervisor, routine patrol, as needed and directed by a supervisor, transportation of department personnel and equipment


 


ANIMAL CONTROL TRUCK
Albemarle County Animal Control Unit utilizes Chevrolet Pick-Up Trucks equipped with all necessary equipment to  support responsible pet ownership, ensure humane treatment of animals and ensure compliance with statutes and ordinances for the control and protection of animals.
