ALBEMARLE COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION
SWIMMING BEACHES and SEASON PASSES

Looking for a new way to keep cool during the summer months? Visit one of our beaches at Chris Greene Lake, Walnut Creek, or Mint Springs Valley Park. Each of these three parks has a sand beach for freshwater swimming during the summer months (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, except on days when Albemarle County Schools are in session) with lifeguard protection. The lakes are open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for swimming. 

There is a park user fee to enter the parks.  Everyone must pay the entry fee into the parks:  whether you are walking a dog, fishing, biking, or swimming, etc.  If you have any questions feel free to call the Albemarle County Parks Office at 434-296-5844.  Thank you for  your patronage!   Daily entry fees for Albemarle County residents are $3 for adults and $2 for children. Non-Albemarle County resident fees are $4.50 for adults and $3 for children.  Season pass prices are listed below.

SWIMMING HOURS AT THE LAKES - 11:30am to 7:30pm

Beaches will be OPEN weekends ONLY after Sunday, August 23.  Beaches will be open Saturday, August 29, Sunday, August 30, Saturday, September 5, Sunday, September 6, and Monday, September 7.

SEASON PASSES

*Seniors age 62 & over may obtain a Free Season Pass, Albemarle County Residents Only.
