Walnut Creek Park

There is a park user fee charged between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend

SIZE 480 land acres, 45 water acres and 2 beach acres
HOURS Parks are generally open for daylight hours all year. Specific hours for each park are posted at park entrance.
SWIMMING Daily 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, except on the days when Albemarle County Schools are in session).
CANOE RENTAL Fee: $5.00/hour (from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day).
FISHING

Walnut Creek is stocked with sunfish, channel catfish and largemouth bass. A Virginia State Fishing License is required.  All bass 12 to 15 inches must be released immediately.  Five bass per day limit, only one of which may be greater than 18 inches.  All Other State Regulations Apply.  Click here for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

 

BIKE TRAILS

15 miles of trails for biking, hiking, or running.

BOATING U.S. Coast Guard-approved boats and crafts welcome. Gasoline-powered motors prohibited. Electric motors are allowed.
AMENITIES

 

 

4 tables scattered throughout the park; picnic shelter #1 is not available during swimming season and has electricity, but no grill; picnic shelter #2 is available all year and has a grill, but no electricity. Both shelters have a seating capacity of 42; seasonal restrooms are available.
DIRECTIONS

Take Route 29 South; Turn left onto Route 708 (Red Hill Road); Turn right onto Route 631 (Old Lynchburg Road); The park is 1/2 mile on the left. Type in your address below to map directions to Walnut Creek Park.
