 Thank you for your interest in Albemarle County Public Schools.  The Human Resources Department assists in the employment of teachers, administrators, support personnel and temporary employees for the entire School Division.  Applicants interested in positions with the School Division will find up-to-date vacancy information and application information on our TalentEd vacancy page.

Applicants are encouraged to apply immediately for any listed job openings. You will only be considered for vacancies for which you have applied.  Vacancies are posted on-line and are updated regularly. It is the policy of Albemarle County Public Schools to conduct fingerprint/criminal history investigations as well as a search of the central registry through Child Protective Services for any "founded cases of child abuse or neglect" on all school employees. Please respond thoroughly to the criminal background questions on the application.  If an applicant or employee makes any misrepresentations or willful omissions of fact regarding prior criminal history, such misrepresentation or omission shall be sufficient cause for disqualification of the applicant or termination of employment.

Interviews are at the discretion of the hiring managers. They will contact qualified applicants to schedule appointments.

Additional information for Teachers/Administrative Applicants

All applicants must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching/Professional License at the time they submit their teaching application.  Eligible is defined as the applicant has either submitted all materials to the Virginia Department of Education or the individual has received their statement of eligibility.  Due to State requirements, a provisional license holder cannot be placed at a Title I program school (Agnor-Hurt Elem., Greer Elem., Red Hill Elem., Scottsville Elem., Woodbrook Elem., Yancey Elem.).

Please submit all required paperwork for licensure directly to the Virginia Department of Education. Albemarle County is unable to handle licensure paperwork for applicants.

Eligible applicants must have a current application on file. A resume and cover letter must be uploaded to the application. Applicants must submit an electronic multi-media portfolio as follows: 

The Multi-Media Portfolio is an opportunity for you to provide tangible evidence of your work at the optimal level, as well as to demonstrate your understanding of the Virginia Performance Standards for School Leaders. This may include, but is not limited to documents, images, blogs, video or audio clips or your capabilities and accomplishments as aligned with these seven standards:

Student Academic Progress*

Descriptions of evidence of each standard should be 250 words or less. It is recommended that you describe events or scenarios, action taken, and results. Those standards indicated by an asterisk are required for those who which to be considered for assistant principal positions only. All standards are required for those seeking principal consideration. Additionally, you must include in your portfolio a philosophy statement focused on the role of a principal in a school.

Portfolios should be uploaded to a cloud storage/ drop-box/ or website of your choice. A link to that portfolio must be included in your cover letter. Hard copies, jump drives, and other physical storage devices will not be accepted.
