The grounds maintenance staff is responsible for maintaining over 130 acres of County owned property and rights-of-way, overseeing mowing and landscaping contractors, and managing small projects such sidewalk installation and parking lot resurfacing. In addition to grass cutting and landscaping, the staff, in coordination with the Water Resources Division, ensures the County’s storm water management facilities function properly. The staff is also tasked with installing and maintaining the County’s E911 sign road signs.

- Median tree/landscape maintenance (including Art-in-Place)
- Storm-water facility maintenance
- Snow removal at County buildings

- Newspaper recycling (Sam’s Club, Pantops)
- Asphalt path maintenance (Old Brook Rd., Georgetown Rd., Peyton path, Birnam path, Avon Street path)
- Small improvement projects (retaining walls, cobble-stone sidewalks, conveyance channel repair, bus stop benches
- Bulky Waste Amnesty Days
- Support roadside trash clean-up effort
- Support graffiti eradication effort
