Albemarle County
is now offering the ability to pay property taxes on-line.
Payments can be made by electronic fund transfer from a checking or savings account
or by VISA, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards.
Please note that a convenience fee is added to all transactions.
Credit card company by-laws require the Department of Finance to use a third party to process credit card payments for VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. Albemarle County uses a third-party processor named EDS to process credit card payments for property taxes. EDS will charge a convenience fee of 3% on the total amount of the bill charged as authorized under Virginia Code 2.2-614.1. Electronic Fund Transfers are charged a convenience fee of $2.50 per transaction.
Partial payments will be accepted; however, please be aware that payments will be applied to oldest balances first and partial payments will not constitute waiver of any penalties or interest on unpaid portions.
