Albemarle County is committed to assisting our community as we face the COVID-19 pandemic together. To enhance the well-being and quality of life of our citizens, the Board of Supervisors have extended the following deadlines for tax filing or tax payment through emergency ordinances.


1) The filing due date for business personal property & machinery and tools returns is extended from May 1 to June 1, 2020

2) The payment due dates for real estate, tangible personal property, machinery and tools, and mobile homes are extended from   June 5 to June 30, 2020

3) The Payment due date for business license taxes measured by gross receipts is extended from June 15 to June 30, 2020

4) The Payment date for transient occupancy and food and beverage tax for tax months March, April, and May of 2020 is extended toJuly 20, 2020. Late payment penalty will not apply until July 21, 2020 for these three months. Filing due dates for Food and Beverage tax and Transient Occupancy tax for tax month March, April and May of 2020 remain unchanged. A 10% late filing penalty still applies if filing is later than the original monthly due dates.

5) The renewal deadline to submit a real estate tax relief application is May 16, 2020

Changes 1-4 were passed by the County Board of Supervisors on April 15, 2020. Change 5 was passed by the Board on March 17, 2020. All tax rates remain unchanged.
