Albemarle County is pleased to announce the launch of a discount card program that will help consumers cope with the high price of prescriptions. The County is making free prescription drug discount cards available under a program sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACo) that offers average savings of 24 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs.
The cards may be used by all county residents, regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage, and are accepted at participating county pharmacies. A national network of more than 60,000 participating retail pharmacies also will honor the NACo prescription discount card.
Residents can visit www.caremark.com/naco to print an ID card and use it immediately at any participating pharmacy. Cards are also available at the Albemarle County Department of Social Services (ACDSS) at the County Office Building on 5th Street, the Thomas Jefferson Health District on Rose Hill Drive, and Martha Jefferson Hospital. County residents can call ACDSS locally at (434) 972-4010 or can call Caremark toll free 1-877-321-2652 or visit www.caremark.com/naco for assistance with the program.
