Biography
:

Rick Randolph was elected to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors to represent the Scottsville Magisterial District in November of 2015. In 2015, Rick also completed his fourth year of service as the Planning Commissioner for the Scottsville District and his fifth year of service on the board of the Rivanna River Basin Commission as well as on the Village of Rivanna Community Advisory Committee. During his term as Planning Commissioner also participated as commission liaison to the Capital Improvement Program Oversight Committee, the Long-Range Solid Waste Solutions Committee, the Avon/5th Street Citizen Advisory Committee and the Historic Preservation Committee.

Rick is committed to effective, consensus-seeking leadership, forming coalitions within the county for more cost-effective government, better preparing our students for the demands of the 2050 economy, working with developers and neighbors to find commonalities, and identifying long-term solutions to air and water quality challenges and solid waste disposal issues in the county. Rick also champions scale-appropriate economic development in the Scottsville District and the Town of Scottsville and is active with the county’s Virginia Telecommunications Planning Initiative to introduce accessible, affordable broadband to the rural reaches of Albemarle county. Rick supports optimizing the training and community exposure of the county’s police, fire and rescue forces and is committed to expanding affordable housing in the county as well as opportunities for county employees to reside in Albemarle county, Rick also seeks for the Town of Scottsville to become a regional center for the cost-effective and timely delivery of critical social and medical services to a four-county region.

The son of a community banker and McIntire graduate of UVa, Rick is a graduate of UVa (American government), the University of Pennsylvania (international relations), Immaculata University (secondary certification; social studies) and completed his Ph.D. course work and examinations at the University of Connecticut (American public policy, comparative and international politics). Rick remains active with Grace Episcopal Church in Cismont where he coordinated (8/2011-1/2016) Grace’s volunteer teams building homes for Habitat for Humanity, serves as a lay reader, is a member of the Outreach Committee and is a traffic warden for major events at Grace. He is president of the Region XV Council of the Episcopal Church. Rick remains an active road cyclist since completing active duty with the US Army in 1970.
