INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FILL OUT THIS JOB APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in Albemarle County Schools and Local Government!

We are excited that you would consider us as a place of employment and look forward to considering your application.

You will be asked to provide several pieces of information, including the following (with associated dates and details):
  1. Contact Information
  2. Employment Experience
  3. Education
  4. References
  5. Certificates/Licenses
  6. For Licensed Employees: information on certification and contracts.
You will also be asked to complete two writing samples on education topics.

In order to complete an application for employment, you must first establish and enter a LOGIN NAME and PASSWORD. Creating an account keeps your information secure. All sensitive information you provide is stored in encrypted files. In addition, all of the information you submit is encrypted during transmission.

If you do not complete your application during the initial session, you will need your account information to retrieve your partially-completed application. If you have started but not submitted an application previously, enter your LOGIN NAME and PASSWORD. The PASSWORD is case sensitive. The saved application will be automatically retrieved for you. If your completed application does not appear, it indicates that your application has already been submitted or you have entered the incorrect LOGIN NAME and/or PASSWORD.

NOTE: If you forget your LOGIN NAME and/or PASSWORD, please use your “secret question” and a new PASSWORD will be created and sent to the email address you entered when you created your LOGIN NAME. If you did not enter an email address the new password can be obtained by calling (434)296-5827. Applications started but not submitted within 14 days will automatically be deleted from the database,
and you will be required to start a new application.

Please Read:

  1. While not required, this application does allow you to attach or upload up to 3 documents of your choice. This includes cover letters, resumes, academic transcripts, etc. Each must be less than 2MB in size and in PDF, TXT, or DOC format.

Once you submit your application, you may need to provide additional documentation (as required for a specific position). If we need any additional information, a representative from the County will contact you with instructions.

  2. To complete this application, you must have cookies, popups, and java script enabled in your browser.

  3. All required fields are labeled with an asterisk. Some fields will only be required if you enter information in related fields.

  4. Throughout the application, you will always see two buttons at the bottom of the page (you may have to scroll down to see some of the longer pages). On pages that DO NOT require multiple entries the "Next" and the "Previous" buttons accept your answers and take you forward or backward a page. Pages that require multiple entries will have Save, Update, Delete, and Cancel buttons for data entry. Some of the pages may display at a slower speed. We appreciate your patience waiting for each page to display before answering. Do not use your browser's Back or Forward button (if they are visible), because they could cause data loss.

  5. For security reasons, you are allowed approximately 60 minutes of no activity before you are logged out. Activity is considered using the navigation links or buttons. You will have to log in again, but any information you have added on previous pages will be saved.

  6. If you have forgotten your LOGIN NAME, PASSWORD and/or the answer to your secret question, you must start a new application. Enter a new LOGIN NAME and PASSWORD in the applicable boxes on the next page, and a new application will automatically start.
