Re: Extension of Entrance Corridors: Rio East
Dear Dennis,
On behalf of the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board, I would like to request that you and the Board of Supervisors ask the Virginia Department of Transportation to reclassify East Rio Road as an arterial highway, then establish Rio East as an Entrance Corridor Overlay District. Rio East has seen considerable development in recent months. Future development along this heavily traveled corridor could benefit from the application of the County’s Design Guidelines, resulting in orderly and attractive development that reflects the traditional architecture of Albemarle and that is coordinated with other development on our major roadways.
As always, the ARB appreciates your support of the County’s design review process. We look forward to the possibility of helping to protect the unique character of this part of Albemarle County.
Sincerely,
Candace M.P. Smith, Chairperson
Albemarle County Architectural Review Board
